The law firm of Desenberg & Colip, P.C. has roots back to the 1880's when A. A. Worthington opened his office and practiced until the late 1930's. B.R. Desenberg, a life long resident opened an office across the hall from the Worthington office. The original office site was located at 113 1/2 E. Front Street, over the Union State Bank (currently Chemical Bank Shoreline). Shortly into Mr. Desenberg's practice, Mr. Worthington sold his practice and all the furnishings to B.R. Desenberg. B.R. Desenberg relocated his office to 118 Main Street (ground floor level) in 1952. In 1978, the firm relocated to its present site, 223-225 E. Front Street, a little more than a block east of its original location.
B.R. Desenberg continued a solo practice until joined by his son, Louis A. Desenberg (who still uses Mr. Worthington's desk) in 1970. The present attorneys working in the firm are Louis A. Desenberg and John R. Colip who joined the practice in 1980.
The firm was incorporated in 1972, as Desenberg & Desenberg, P.C. In 1978, B.R. retired from the practice and acted in an of counsel position until the mid-1990's, when he retired. B.R. Desenberg passed away in 2004. As such it is the longest active legal association in the County.
